Mother of the fire
(Historical Fiction Novel)

In the late summer of 1666, war with the Dutch is stretching England to her limits and in the court of King Charles II impossible decisions must be made. Into this turmoil is thrown Louisa Auguste Bejart – Charles II’s illegitimate daughter. She is forced to grapple with broken promises, her own desires, and an alliance that would save the country she calls home. But when the war threatens London itself, things take a dangerous turn.

On the fateful night of 2nd September 1666 the great fire of London begins and Cheapside is burning. How did it start? Who is to blame? How can the flames be tamed? And how far can the inferno’s devastation reach?

The choices before Louisa are clear. She can save herself, she can save her father’s crown, or she can save the man she dare not say she loves.
